NEW Requirement For Green Card 2021: A Chance to Get Selected as an Applicant

0

Unlike the previous years, the 2021 entry requires an applicant to possess a passport before they can enter for the program. The passport must have a number, country of issuance, and expiration date for the principal entrant’s valid, unexpired international travel passport.

This requirement applies to the principal entrant only, not to dependents. You must enter valid international travel passport information unless you are stateless, a national of a Communist-controlled country and unable to obtain a passport from the government of the Communist-controlled country or the beneficiary of an individual waiver approved by the Secretary of Homeland Security and the Secretary of State.

In our opinion, this new passport requirement will deter a lot of people from applying the 2021 green card lottery. Many applicants might not have a valid passport for completing the application and if you happen to get a passport and used it for your application, you might be lucky to be among the 55,000 applicants to be selected.

Also, when you look at the records, previously, only 50,000 applicants are being selected all over the world. But with the 2021 program, the quota has been increased by 5000. This means extra applicants that will have been dropped are now having the chance of being selected.
